the effect of experimental hyperthyroidism on the activity of hexokinase, lactate dehydrogenase and acunitase in the brain of rat during development

the study on biochemical changes in brain tissue indicates that there are considerable variations in metabolism of energy in this tissue within the first three weeks of life. this phenomenon coincides with the increase of brain energy during that period of life. there are, indeed, various factors, involved in the changing process. hormones and thyroid hormones in particular are of the most important factors affecting the regulation of energy metabolism during body development. the general effect of thyroid hormones includes an increase in oxygen vitilization, which can be seen in all body organs but a few such as brain, spleen and testicles. for glucose as a main source of production and metabolism of energy in the brain, the study on its metabolism in normal state and also in comparison with hyperthyroidism may reveal the significant role of these hormones on the energy metabolism of glucose in the brain. in this study the variation in the activities of hexokinase, lactate dehydrogenase and acunitase enzymes with the rate of glucose and glycogen changes in hemogenized brain tissue of rate during its growth in normal and experiment hyperthyroidism state has been evaluated.
